MAQS
An interior that stands up to scrutiny
MAQS Advokatbyrå is one of Sweden's leading business law firms, with roots stretching back to the 19th century. The modern MAQS was founded in 2002 and has since grown rapidly - today there are offices in Gothenburg, Malmö, Stockholm and Sundsvall.

2,500 m² of office space, around 100 workstations, lounge areas, dining room, library and meeting rooms
When MAQS moved into the newly built building at Masthuggskajen in Gothenburg, they wanted to create an environment that reflects both the agency's identity and their human work culture. The new 2,500 m² office houses around 100 workstations, a library for replenishing knowledge, a pleasant dining room, lounge areas for socializing, and both internal and client meeting spaces - all zones designed for their function, such as providing space for conversation, focus and reflection, and creating community.
MAQS was to be one of the first tenants in the wood-built Habitat 7 - one of Sweden's most sustainable office buildings with NollCO₂, Breeam Excellent and Citylab certifications. "We came in early in the process, the schedule was ambitious and the interior design proposal from the architectural firm Krook & Tjäder was still under development. This required close collaboration, the right decisions at the right time, and a solution-oriented process to ensure that both the interior design concept, function and sustainability goals were met.
Because we were involved early on in the collaboration with the client and architect, we could easily take full responsibility for project management and coordination, producing sample furniture, assisting with orders for specialty joinery, handling the furniture that was kept for reuse after it was refinished and reupholstered to fit the new environment. Through close collaboration between MAQS Advokatbyrå, the architects at Krook & Tjäder, our suppliers and our project team, the project was refined and improved along the way and delivered as desired
Smart and stylish
The result is an office that combines legal sharpness with warm materiality - where the expression of wood, timeless furniture and carefully selected details create a harmonious whole. Refreshing existing furniture helped to reduce the climate impact and strengthened MAQS' obvious work for long-term sustainability.
The project has also attracted widespread attention and is a finalist in the Sweden's Most Stylish Office 2025 competition - a great testament to both ambition and collaboration.
