For SAS, travel and Scandinavian expression have always been shaped together. SAS Lounge by Mastercard at Arlanda is no exception. At an airport where tens of thousands of people pass through every day, rooms are needed that create calm. Where SAS travelers can breathe a sigh of relief between two worlds - a place to land before they take off.

  • The lounge welcomes SAS EuroBonus travelers who fly frequently and value comfort, service and convenience throughout their journey.

  • Concept Architecture

  • Senab was responsible for design, project coordination, logistics, reuse of existing furniture from the former SAS lounge and delivery of loose furniture.

When Arlanda Domestic Hall was rebuilt in the early 1980s, Senab was involved in delivering the interior design for one of the largest public projects in Sweden at the time. It was the start of a long-lasting trust in public environments where every detail must interact with flows, function and form.

More than 40 years later, we are back - with a new prestigious assignment, at the same airport. In early 2025, Senab completed the interior of the new SAS Lounge by Mastercard, designed by Koncept Arkitektur, an environment designed to offer travelers peace, focus and service - while waiting for the next departure.

Our mission

Senab was responsible for the design, logistics and delivery of loose furnishings for the lounge's two contiguous areas. With a high demand for quality in both detail and overall, as well as a tight schedule, the project management was put to the test. Through close collaboration between client, architect and our team, all elements were delivered on time - with the right finish and feel.

The lounge is designed with clear zoning - where different parts of the room serve different purposes. There are social areas for short visits, a restaurant area with generous buffet and bar tables, and space for work or a break between flights.

The design is characterized by Scandinavian elegance with tactile materials, muted colors and a thoughtful balance between comfort and exclusivity. Part of the assignment involved renewing and reusing existing furniture from the former SAS lounge by, for example, repainting table frames and replacing worn table tops. New elements such as seating, textiles and lighting were added to enhance the whole.

The final result

SAS Lounge by Mastercard is a place to land before taking off. With the right combination of expression and function - between reuse and new design - Senab, together with the architect and the client, has created a lounge experience with a long lifespan and high value for the traveler, the brand and the airport.
