Customs House

A restaurant and meeting place in the heart of Norrköping with a very unique feeling where the Orient meets seventeenth century Sweden and the senses are offered a journey of impressions. A challenge of historic proportions. Literally speaking.

Background

Tullhuset in Norrköping is a beautiful historic building located by Motala Ström. The memorable building houses a restaurant and a cocktail bar. It is a popular meeting place in the heart of Norrköping. The vision here is that guests will be curious to visit a beautiful place where they are not only offered good drinks and entertainment, but also an exciting interior design and art experience. In September 2020, planning for the renovation began.

Challenge

The building dates back to the 18th century, which made the task of creating a modern meeting place with a new look and function somewhat humbling. But nothing is impossible. For example, it is actually possible to hang modern architect-designed lamps on the ceiling, even though the ceiling beams are over 300 years old. It is a challenge, but everything can be solved with good planning and good help from internal fitters in Norrköping.

The final result

As a guest at Tullhuset, you step into a unique and lush place with a fascinating magnolia tree adorning the roof and giving a completely unique impression. The exclusive and bright environment arouses curiosity and encourages guests to try something as new and unique as Nordic sushi.

The assignment for Senab was to develop a total solution when it came to fixed and loose furnishings. And it is fair to say that we took the challenge to the next level. How about custom-built wine cabinet mirrors that create an exciting reflection of the soft glow of the lamps? The light green and rich colors give a luxurious impression where guests enjoy good food and drinks. Amidst beautiful art on the walls. An experience of historic proportions.
